Prior to arriving at Cal, Edwards began his second stint at The University of Florida as an assistant strength coach during the spring semester with new Head Coach Will Muschamp and Director of Strength, Mickey Marotti. At Florida he was responsible for freshmen/walk-ons and injured athletes.

Edwards spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons in the NFL as a strength coach with the Minnesota Vikings. In 2009, the Vikings acquired All-Pro quarterback Brett Favre and achieved a 12-4 record capped by an NFC-North division championship. They nearly earned a berth to Super Bowl XLIV - losing to the eventual Super Bowl Champion New Orleans’s Saints in the NFC Championship game.
